About Tim Sykes

My name is Tim Sykes and I teach people how to build the lives they want. My financial journey started in high school with $12,000 of my Bar Mitzvah money — more than 20 years later, I’m up to $7.7 million.

I’m from a middle class neighborhood — this is life-changing money. I’ve changed my life and that of my family.

But I’m more proud of my 30-plus students who’ve become millionaires after taking my course — in addition to the thousands of other students in over 60 countries who are learning to how to gain control of their finances, and their lives.

Over the years, I've realized that teaching others how to take control of their financial destinies is what I was put on earth to do.

This is me on the Steve Harvey show. I came on with two of my millionaire students to talk about what we’ve really learned about taking control of our finances — it isn’t about money.

I love the way Steve explained it to the audience in our conversation. What he said was, if you don’t know your purpose, wealth and money will never make you happy. And unfortunately, according to him, the average person dies never knowing why they were born in the first place. How heartbreaking is that?

These days, what I love best is giving back

When I got rich, people suddenly cared about what I had to say and wanted to know how I did it. So I started teaching.

But here’s the thing … Once I became rich, making money was less motivating. I didn’t need more money. Donating to charity gave me a new source of motivation and passion.

I co-founded the charity Karmagawa, which has built 119 schools around the world. We’ve contributed over $10 million to animal welfare charities, Boys and Girls Clubs, food banks, homeless shelters, disaster relief, and environmental causes. My top students are building schools too. I like to think that this is something else I teach.

I discovered a new source of motivation and I want to pass that on too. What you do in the world doesn’t only affect you. Other people are depending on you.

What I teach isn’t rocket science. These are skills you build and work on like any other. Taking control of my financial destiny has changed my life, and I think this way of life should be open to more people…

I’ve built my financial education courses to pass on the things I had to learn for myself. It’s the kind of community that I wish I had when I was starting out.

We don’t accept everyone. If you’re up for the challenge — I want to hear from you.
